Myo-manipulative Functional Therapy literally means making changes in the muscles to achieve proper function. EXPERTISE
Equine Psychology & Behavior Modification
What makes me unique is that I communicate with horses, as if I am a fellow horse myself. Using psychology via 'horse language' to communicate correctly and clearly with horses. The key is to understand and read the horse’s cues and body language, be able to predict the behavior before it happens, and reciprocate that message through my own body language.
I start with an assessment of the horse's body language, gait, biomechanics, temperament, personality and identify any underlying issues or injuries.
Behavior modification training is customized to each individual horse's needs and development. Groundwork is the foundation of any training regime and is the best way to get started when it comes to horse psychology and behavior.
Equine Assisted Personal Development (EAPD), also known as Internal Compass. Discovering, through enhanced self-awareness, numerous practical and essential learning objectives and how to lead horses with Insights that integrate “horse sense” into practical and essential personal life skills.
EAPD is a paradigm shift experience in conscious awareness. Participants learn how to communicate respectfully and consistently with their personal core – their primal energy – so that self-assurance balanced with empathy is expressed through non-verbal behavior. This program helps people deal with PTSD, stress and anxiety, learning difficulties, physical impairments, emotional distress and disorders, Autism, child development, etc..
I offer Training services for horse riders, owners, handlers, grooms, competitors, equestrians, or anyone interested in horse language or understanding horses.
Speaking horse language is the most significant tool for anyone around horses, and are therefore able to communicate safely and efficiently with any horse, breaking the language barrier between horse and man for an undeniably unbreakable bond with any horse.
Animal Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation
Animal physical therapists provide rehabilitative care to animals who have had surgery, been injured or suffer from chronic pain. Physical therapy can speed an animal's recovery and improve its quality of life.
PT for animals is relatively new. In the past, veterinarians would immobilize an animal's limbs after surgery for 4-6 weeks using casts, splints or braces. However, it is now known that allowing mobility can speed along the recovery process. Physical therapy can help by increasing blood flow to the injured area, reducing inflammation, minimizing muscle atrophy, normalizing joint function and increasing collagen synthesis.
Animal physical therapists employ much of the same treatments, such as exercise rehabilitation, aquatic/hydrotherapy, massage, ultrasound therapy, heat therapy, passive range of motion activity, neuromuscular stimulation and cryotherapy, as do physical therapists who treat humans.
Animal Neuro-Myofascial Release Technique (consists of manual, tool and laser meridian therapies), kinesiology taping applications and soft tissue work. The therapy treatments consist of Relaxation (Swedish) massage, TMJ realignment, Shiatsu massage, Myofascial Release therapy (related to stress points, join dysfunction, muscle spasms, scar tissue, or reduced range of motion), Gua Sha therapy, Acupressure stress point and trigger massage, mechanical therapy/massage.
Whole Body Vibration (WBV) Therapy improves circulation of both blood and lymph, increases blood flow, improve oxygenation of the tissues, removal of toxins and metabolic waste, and enhance the body’s ability to heal itself, drug free. WBV is designed to increase bone density, reduce muscle soreness and inflammation. This innovative treatment of vertical whole body vibration therapy for horses has been successful for improved performance, faster rehabilitation and preventative care of injuries. Horses can experience physical wear and tear due to their training and competitions. They may also develop complications due to their confinement in the stall.
The EquiVibe is an alternative to exercise in less time. The EquiVibe can help repair muscles, improve bone density, and maintain muscle mass in a stall horse. It is also used as an aid to warming up and cooling down.
Core Muscle Stimulation (CMS) Therapy Neuromuscular stimulation could be more effective for targeting precisely the muscles that need to develop in horses.
Functional electric stimulation (FES) is a type of electrotherapy that stimulates the motor nerves responsible for muscle function, meaning it could help achieve or maintain muscle symmetry and help release stubborn areas.
Less active or pleasure horses would benefit from a physiotherapy session once a month or as little as once every 2-3 months for healthy maintenance and to sustain range of motion and physical health. Competing horses, or horses that are physically active require a physiotherapy session at least three times a month.
Animal Aromatherapy & Natural Healing
Aromatherapy is often referred to as an essential oil therapy, but irrespective of the definition, it is the art and science behind using pure essential oils to promote health and well-being enabling balance in life.
Pure essential oils can be used in a number of ways but they work by enhancing and unifying physical and emotional health. It should be seen as a complementary therapy, the ethos being to treat the whole and not just to focus on any symptoms experienced. When used regularly, it assists the natural healing process.
Aromatherapy is an important tool for rehabilitation and recovery, healthy maintenance upkeep, and emotional support and healing.
EOs are used for their constituents that are highly beneficial and can be used to decrease pain, inflammation, help promote the body's organs, systems, and functions such as digestive, lymphatic and other systems, spleen, liver, kidney, small or large intestine, lung or heart meridians, detox cells and organs, influence the emotional brain where memories are stored, Restoring flexibility and muscle function, spinal realignment, as remedies for releasing and decreasing stress, anxiety, and mental blockages, promotes healthy digestion and respiratory support as well as being soothing for minor daily aches and pains, help relax muscle tension after exercise, helps relieve minor body and joint discomfort associated with exercise, help soothe minor discomforts of the digestive tract.
The Equine Raindrop technique is a powerful therapy and is beneficial for horses. Essential Oils are used to help support balancing the systems of the body, help soothe fatigue and exhaustion, helps maintain a healthy immune system, support the respiratory, circulatory, and musculoskeletal systems. Techniques are also applied to the spine to stimulate energy pathways and allow the oils to go deeper into the tissue. The ERT supports the horse as a whole promoting and sustainable overall health.
